Zira, Frequently Asked Questions

In no particular order, here are the most common questions I get asked.

Q: Why use the Korg Chip?

The Korg NJM2069AD was used for two reasons, firstly I wanted to get something up and running quickly to test if it was possible ot make a good sounding synth in such a small form factor and secondly I had 8 of them lying around unused that I bought many years ago from Korg Tech Support for a polysynth.

Q: Why are you only doing a limited run of 8?

Basically, I only have 8 NJM2069AD chips, though I do intend to try and see if I can fit a discrete analogue VCF/VCA in the same board space. if I can, then I will be making kits the same as I did with GorF.

Q: How much of it is Analogue?

The VCF and VCA are analogue, the Oscillators, LFO and ADSRs are digital.

Q: What is the case made of?

The case is made of acrylic, the same as GorF and is in fact made by the same guy who made the GorF cases

Q: When can I get one?

Once the prototypes are finished, I'll begin working on a discrete VCF/VCA version. I am hoping to have kits available around November 2010, but please remember this is a hobby of mine and I do have a day job that can sometimes get in the way of my hobby.

Q: Will you ship outside the UK?

Yes, as I did with GorF, though the prices for shipping will vary based on country.
